About this release
Drowning the Light’s From the Abyss is the project’s 2015 full-length album, presented on CD as over an hour of raw, atmospheric and majestically melodic Australian black metal. Written and recorded from the desolate winter of 2011 through the spring of 2014, the album rises from cold oceanic ambience into sweeping tremolo melodies, ritual keyboards, distant shrieks and forceful drumming. Its long-form songs balance medieval sorrow, vampyric darkness and abyssal mysticism with a grander and more triumphant character than the project’s earliest recordings. Azgorh handles all instruments and vocals, joined by Balam on guitars and vocals and Basilysk on drums. Guitars, bass and keyboards were recorded at Scourge Studios, vocals at The Serpents Lair, and drums at Adversary Studios in Sydney, Australia. CD edition released in 2015 by Dark Adversary Productions. Catalogue DA066. FFO: Evilfeast, Moonblood, Judas Iscariot, Striborg, Xasthur, Satanic Warmaster. Track listing: 1.
