Drowning the Light’s Securing Your Future for Satan is the project’s 2003 debut demo, presented on CD as twenty-two minutes of primitive and decayed Australian black metal. Before the later nocturnal grandeur of Drowning the Light had fully emerged, there was this hostile first manifestation: skeletal riffs, wounded melody, ritual repetition and unhinged vocals captured through the limitations of an old four-track recorder. The performance is raw and unstable, carrying the genuine isolation and hatred of its era. Drawn from Azgorh’s surviving original cassette, the recording bears the scars of age without disguising them beneath modern restoration. Tape decay and occasional source defects remain embedded in the audio, preserving the demo as an artefact from the earliest chamber of the cult.
